Kpop Agency Boasts About Upcoming Debut Of Nepo Baby In Its Boy Group, Clarifies Title After Suspicions Arise
Ha Min Gi (18), who is set to debut as an idol next year, has clarified the controversy surrounding his family background with Shinjeon Tteokbokki. Initially introduced as the grandson of CEO Ha Sung Ho (48), it was later corrected to another title.
On the 28th of October, Modenberry Korea officially announced that Ha Min Gi, born in 2007, has been selected as a member of a new boy group scheduled to debut in the second half of next year.
At the time, the agency promoted him as the “third generation of Shinjeon Tteokbokki,” introducing him as “the grandson of Shinjeon Tteokbokki founder and chairman Ha Sung Ho.”
Shinjeon Tteokbokki was famously founded by Ha Sung Ho in 1999 in Chilseong-dong, Daegu, shortly after he completed his military service. The franchise has since grown to over 800 branches nationwide.
However, since Ha Sung Ho was born in 1977, netizens began questioning the accuracy of the “grandson” claim, suspecting a mistake.
Modenberry Korea later clarified through Star News on the afternoon of the 28th, stating, “Ha Min Gi is not CEO Ha Sung Ho’s grandson but his nephew. Ha Min Gi’s father is Ha Sung Ho’s younger brother.”
Regarding the use of the term “third generation of Shinjeon Tteokbokki,” the agency explained, “Ha Sung Ho founded the brand together with his mother (Ha Min Gi’s grandmother), so it’s still correct to refer to Ha Min Gi as the grandson of the founder.”
