The Rising BL Actor Exposed For Having Been Charged With Smoking Marijuana Issues Apology 4 Years Later
Rising Actor Han Do Woo issued a delayed apology after it was revealed that he had been caught smoking marijuana four years ago.
On December 23, a Sports Chosun report revealed that Han Do Woo was charged with violating the Narcotics Control Act (marijuana) in December 2020 and received a suspended indictment. However, he continued his activities without a hiatus. VAST Entertainment, with whom Han Do Woo’s exclusive contract recently ended, stated that the incident occurred before their contract began, and as they are no longer affiliated, they refrained from commenting further.
Despite the incident, Han Do Woo actively pursued his career, appearing in the BL drama “The Unintentional Love Story” (2023) on TVING, which gained popularity domestically and internationally. He also starred in its spinoff, “When Your Temperature Reaches My Fingertips” (2024).
On December 31, Han Do Woo posted a handwritten apology on his social media, addressing the issue. He stated:
“Recently, news about my past actions has caused great disappointment and concern. When the articles first came out, I was terrified and didn’t know how to address it. I’ve realized how much your trust and support mean to me, and the fact that I’ve let you down fills me with shame and regret. It took me time to muster the courage to sincerely apologize.”
He admitted his wrongdoings, saying:
“In December 2020, I made a foolish decision out of immaturity and engaged in wrongful behavior, for which I was investigated by the police and received a suspended indictment from the prosecution. At the time, I tried to justify my actions with the excuse of curiosity, but through the investigation, I came to deeply understand the gravity of my actions and have been reflecting ever since.”
Han Do Woo acknowledged his fault, adding:
“All of my past actions are entirely my responsibility. Knowing how much disappointment and pain I’ve caused weighs heavily on my heart. This regret has become one of the greatest burdens I carry today.”
He vowed to lead a more conscientious life, stating:
“No matter what I do, I can’t undo my mistakes completely. I will take this opportunity to deeply reflect on myself and ensure that such actions are never repeated. I will make decisions that I can be proud of moving forward.”
Addressing the impact on his projects, Han Do Woo expressed:
“I’m deeply sorry and afraid for the trouble and unnecessary burden my actions may have caused the projects I’ve been involved in. Knowing how much passion and dedication went into those works makes me feel even more regretful for not fully respecting that time.”
He concluded with:
“To everyone I’ve hurt and disappointed, I pledge to correct my life and strive to become a better person. I sincerely apologize to those who believed in and supported me.”
Han Do Woo made his debut in 2014 through the tvN drama “Valid Love” and has since appeared in works like “Make a Woman Cry,” “Moorim School,” “Our Gab Soon,” and “Detective 1988,” actively building his career.
