Japanese Idol Who Was Eliminated From NewJeans Debut Lineup Faces Backlash For Sharing Her Story, Issues Statement Addressing The Controversy
Japanese-born model and actress Harin (real name Harada Rin), who confessed that she was eliminated before the debut of the group NewJeans, has directly expressed her position regarding the recent attention surrounding her.
On the 14th of August, Harin posted a long message through her YouTube community. She began by saying, “These days, I am grateful but at the same time a little worried because I have suddenly received a lot of attention.”
She continued, “The content I talked about in the interview is just my very personal feelings of frustration and disappointment from the past, and it is not intended to criticize or expose a specific company or individual. Of course, it was a difficult time for me, but it was also a thankful opportunity and time that made me stronger, and I still support the members who laughed and cried together with me at that time.”
Earlier, on July 12, Harin appeared on the YouTube channel run by Japanese actor Takeda Hiromitsu and mentioned her time as an idol trainee.
In the video, Harin said, “Right before debut, I had to give up my dream of becoming an idol due to the sudden decision of the company. One day, I was suddenly notified of contract termination, and I was told that I alone should leave.” She recalled that because of this, she had to immediately return to Japan.
Born in 2003, Harin is a former member of the Japanese idol group “Shibu3 Project” and joined the company in 2020 after passing the audition of Source Music under HYBE. She later transferred to ADOR and even worked as part of the NewJeans debut team, but suffered the pain of elimination right before debut.
After the video was released, Harin’s YouTube and social media received both support and some malicious comments, and it appears Harin came forward to clarify in response to this.
Lastly, she calmly concluded her message by saying, “Just as the autumn wind blows even in the hot summer, I will remain as ‘Harin’ without change. I ask for a lot of support in the future as well.”
Meanwhile, Harin is currently continuing her activities after turning to modeling and acting.
