Japanese Child Idol Trainee And Young Singer Passes Away At Age 8, Cause Of Death Revealed
Hirata Runa, a trainee for the Japanese girl group DIANNA Project who also worked as a child singer, has passed away at the age of 8.
According to foreign outlet TMZ on October 3 (local time), news that Hirata Runa “passed away peacefully” on September 25 was shared through her official X (formerly Twitter) account.
Her agency, DIANNA Project, stated that the promising young star died of “myocarditis caused by influenza.”
On behalf of her bereaved family, the agency also asked for privacy to be respected, adding, “We sincerely thank all the fans who supported Hirata Runa, and everyone involved who spared no support.”
Just days before her death, after finishing her final performance on September 20, Runa left a message that read, “Thank you for today too. I had so much fun.”
Afterward, her team shared a message through Runa’s X account saying, “We deeply thank our fellow idols who warmly treated Runa during her lifetime, the fans who supported Runa, the agency staff who led Runa to become an idol, and everyone who was with Runa.”
Her family also said, “She devoted a full third of her short 8 years of life to idol activities,” adding that they hope “she will remain an ‘eternal idol’ in the memories of her fans even after she has passed.”
