HYBE Girl Group Member Comes Out As Queer

Lara, a member of the group KATSEYE, has come out.

On March 24, Lara publicly shared her sexual identity with fans through the Weverse platform, revealing for the first time that she is queer.

She shared that she first came out to her family, admitting, “Being a person of color, I was a bit scared.”

Expressing gratitude for the support from her family, friends, and fans who have been by her side, Lara added,“I am proud of myself. (My sexual identity) is nothing to be ashamed of. I see it as a part of who I am.”

Lara officially debuted in August last year as a member of KATSEYE (Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sofia, Yoonchae), a group co-produced by HYBE and Geffen Records. Their debut album “SIS (Soft Is Strong),” featuring the title track “Touch,” gained significant popularity not only in the U.S. but also in the global music market. The group was even included in the “Artists to Watch This Year” list by the UK-based music magazine NME.

KATSEYE is set to perform at Lollapalooza, the largest music festival in the U.S., which will be held from July 31 to August 3 at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois.
