HYBE Launches A New Label “ABD,” Here Is What We Know About It So Far
HYBE has announced on the 8th of May that it has established a new label called “ABD.” The label name stands for the slogan “A Bold Dream,” symbolizing the idea of imagining “D” instead of following A, B, and then C.
The label will be led by CEO Noh Ji Won, who previously served as head of artist planning at Pledis Entertainment. Noh is known for gaining experience in label management at companies such as Pledis and More Vision, and will oversee the overall operations of ABD.
ABD is set to introduce its first rookie girl group in the second half of this year. The group’s overall production will be led by Han Sung Soo MP, who has previously produced major acts such as Seventeen, After School, IZ*ONE, and TWS. Han will be in charge of the group’s music, concept, and overall performance direction.
HYBE stated, “ABD will build differentiated intellectual property by leveraging a specialized team and creators focused on girl group production,” adding, “We will present new musical attempts and concepts and bring fresh changes to the global music market.”
Meanwhile, HYBE is also preparing the debut of a second global girl group under its HYBE–Geffen Records partnership, following KATSEYE. Out of more than 14,000 audition applicants, only two finalists survived the intense competition and will face off in the final round on the 12th.
