I.O.I To Finally Reunite In Celebration Of 10th Debut Anniversary, Sans Two Members
I.O.I will be making a comeback to the music scene in celebration of their 10th debut anniversary.
On the 23rd of February, Swing Entertainment announced, “I.O.I (Lim Na Young, Chungha, Kim Sejeong, Jung Chae Yeon, Kim So Hye, Yoo Yeon Jung, Choi Yoo Jung, Kim Do Yeon, and Jeon Somi) have confirmed their comeback in May and are currently preparing a new album.” Swing Entertainment will be fully managing I.O.I’s activities for this 10th anniversary project and overseeing the comeback promotions.
This marks their first group activity in approximately nine years since 2017. The reunion, commemorating their 10th debut anniversary, holds special meaning for fans. The members have consistently expressed their desire to reunite through interviews and official appearances, and after long discussions, they have come together once again. However, Kang Minaa and Kyulkyung will not be participating due to prior schedules, and I.O.I will return as a nine-member group.
Having built individual careers as solo artists, actresses, and entertainers, the members are reuniting as one team a decade after their formation. Global fans are paying close attention to the new music and upgraded performances I.O.I will showcase, as well as the synergy created by each member’s accumulated experience and individuality.
I.O.I was formed through national voting on the Mnet survival program Produce 101 in 2016 and debuted in May of that year. Starting with their debut track Dream Girls, they went on to release a series of hit songs including Whatta Man, Very Very Very, and Downpour, topping music shows and major digital charts, quickly establishing themselves as one of the leading girl groups of their time.
Based on these achievements, I.O.I won Rookie of the Year awards at major ceremonies such as the Mnet Asian Music Awards, Golden Disc Awards, and Seoul Music Awards, proving their exceptional presence. Beyond music activities, they were also active in various variety programs, solidifying their status as a “national girl group,” before concluding their official promotions with a concert in January 2017.
In addition to the album release, I.O.I plans to hold a Seoul concert followed by an Asia tour, meeting global fans in person. With large-scale performances expected to satisfy fans who have waited nine years, anticipation is high that their 10th anniversary activities will reach a spectacular peak.
