Popular Kpop Idol Wins Lawsuit Against Former Agency For Unpaid Wages

INFINITE’s Lee Sungjong has won his settlement lawsuit against his former agency.

Lee Sungjong recently won a civil lawsuit against his former agency, SPK Entertainment (CEO Kim Seungpil), over unpaid settlement payments.

In August 2022, Lee Sungjong signed an exclusive contract with SPK Entertainment. However, he did not receive the promised signing bonus or the necessary support for his activities, including TV appearances, fan meetings, and album releases.

Despite sending certified documents requesting corrections for contract violations, his demands were ignored. Faced with continued silence from the agency, Lee Sungjong notified them of the contract termination last year. Subsequently, a court ruling on a provisional injunction for the suspension of his exclusive contract led to a forced mediation, officially freeing him from the contract.

At that time, Lee Sungjong also filed a lawsuit demanding unpaid settlements for his INFINITE activities, YouTube appearances, and Japanese fan meetings spanning over two years. Nearly a year after filing the lawsuit, he finally won the case on February 28.

The court ruled, “The defendant (SPK Entertainment) must pay the plaintiff (Lee Sungjong) the settlement amount with an annual interest rate of 6% from April 21, 2023, to February 28, 2025, and an annual interest rate of 12% from the following day until the full amount is paid.”

Meanwhile, INFINITE made a grand comeback to the music industry on March 6 with their eighth mini-album, “LIKE INFINITE.” They will also hold their “LIMITED EDITION” 15th-anniversary encore concert on April 12 and 13 at Inspire Arena in Yeongjongdo, Incheon, to meet their fans.
