One Of The Biggest Korean Artists Surprises With A Special Song Release Today, Song Tops The Charts After Its Release
One of the biggest Korean artists, IU, has surprised fans with a special gift at the end of summer.
On the morning of September 10 at 7 AM, she released her digital single “Bye, Summer” on various music platforms. The release came without any prior notice or promotions, intended as a heartfelt present for fans as summer fades and cool breezes begin to blow.
“Bye, Summer” was first performed at her 2024 IU HEREH WORLD TOUR CONCERT ENCORE: THE WINNING held at Seoul World Cup Stadium last September, drawing great attention. The song was created during her world tour, and on stage IU said, “This summer felt especially long during the tour. But because I spent it with you, I want to say it was the best summer. Since it was such a long and passionate summer, I wanted to share this song with you.”
She performed it while playing the guitar herself, receiving explosive cheers from fans. During the performance, rain that had lightly started falling stopped just as the song ended, creating a breathtaking moment that felt almost staged. The live clip of “Bye, Summer” later went viral, climbing YouTube’s trending list, and fans had been eagerly requesting an official release ever since.
IU personally wrote and composed the track, collaborating with composer Seo Dong Hwan, who also worked with her on “Love Wins All.”
Upon its release, the song topped various charts. The song entered the top 3 on Melon on the same day too.
