Jackson Finally Addresses 7-Year Secret Dating Rumors With i-dle’s Yuqi
GOT7 member Jackson has personally denied the so-called “7-year secret dating” rumor with i-dle member Yuqi.
According to Chinese outlet Sina Entertainment on September 24, Jackson attended an event that day in Hong Kong related to a collaboration between “Under The Castle,” which he leads and serves as creative director for, and Hong Kong Ocean Park, where he met with reporters and was asked about the dating rumors.
When reporters asked whether it was true that he had secretly dated Yuqi for seven years, Jackson shook his head and said, “No. There’s no such thing.”
On his current relationship status, Jackson said he’s “single.” He added, “Now that I’m in my 30s, the most important thing to me right now is work,” and “My older brother already has a 9-year-old daughter, so my parents don’t pressure me about marriage or having kids.”
He did, however, confirm that he personally keeps in touch with Yuqi. Jackson said, “Yuqi and I talk privately, but we’ve never discussed the dating rumors with each other,” adding, “Yuqi is a good person.”
When reporters asked if he had any plans to pursue Yuqi again, Jackson said, “No. If that were the case, I would have made a move already.”
The dating rumors between the two first blew up in February 2022, when Chinese paparazzi claimed Yuqi had visited Jackson’s residence, causing the rumors to spread.
At the time, Jackson released a statement saying, “The paparazzi edited together several videos and used expressions like ‘overnight’ and ‘roses’ to mislead the public,” and “It’s common for friends to gather at my place.” He also said he had reported the paparazzi to the police over the matter.
The rumors, which had died down, flared up again last month. An anonymous netizen who claimed to be a fan of Yuqi’s posted on social media on the 13th of last month, claiming the two were still in a relationship. As the rumor spread, the post was deleted.
