Jang Hyunseung (34) has opened up about his departure from the group “BEAST” for the 1st time in 8 years.
Jang Hyunseung recently spoke through a paid social media app, saying, “At the time, it was a situation where I had already decided to leave the team, and I was told not to attend the fan meeting and not to come. So I didn’t go and went out and had fun instead. I want to clarify that I didn’t absent myself without permission.”
“I was also asked by the company to record a video on my phone, saying, ‘I’m sorry and regretful for not being able to attend the fan meeting due to various personal reasons.’ So I sent that video as well. But to be honest, it would have been nice if I had stayed home instead of going out. However, at the time, I didn’t feel like staying at home,” he added.
Jang Hyunseung debuted with the BEAST members in 2009. They released hit songs such as “Fiction,” “Shock,” and “more. However, in 2015, he unexpectedly missed a fan meeting in Japan and became the subject of gossip. It was revealed Jang Hyunseung had met acquaintances at a cafe in Seoul on the day of the fan meeting, which led to criticism from fans.
Jang Hyunseung left BEAST and pursued a solo career in 2016. Afterwards, the remaining members left their agency, Cube Entertainment, which had discovered them, and established their own independent label, Around Us Entertainment. They also changed their team name to “Highlight.”
