Jisoo Issues Apology Over BLACKPINK’s Controversial 10th Anniversary Event

Group BLACKPINK reached its 10th debut anniversary, but amid backlash over a poorly managed commemorative event, member Jisoo directly addressed the situation and apologized to fans.

On August 8, Jisoo took to a fan communication platform to celebrate the milestone while expressing regret over the recently sparked 10th Anniversary Meet&Greet event controversy.

“It’s been 10 years since I debuted with BLACKPINK,” Jisoo wrote. “This anniversary is a day when I feel very sorry. Over these 10 years as BLACKPINK and as Jisoo, there have been many ups and downs, but I always wanted to show only good sides and be someone who brings happiness in difficult moments. The fact that many BLINKs are upset makes my heart heavy.”

She continued, emphasizing the role of the fandom: “But I want to say that it’s BLINKs who have made BLACKPINK shine this brightly. Thank you for celebrating our 10th anniversary, and I’m sorry once again for causing such disappointment. I always want to say thank you and love.”

The controversy erupted after YG Entertainment, which oversees BLACKPINK’s group activities, announced just two days prior that only 40 fans would be invited to the commemorative Meet&Greet event. The sparse details—no confirmed venue or time—sparked immediate fan outrage. Additionally, the possibility that some members might not attend the event further fueled criticism.

Tensions escalated as fans voiced concerns that members have been prioritizing individual projects at the expense of group activities and fan engagement. Following intense pushback, all four members—Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa—confirmed their attendance. Jisoo’s heartfelt message is seen as an effort to soothe disappointed fans.

Time has passed, and it’s been 10 years since I debuted with BLACKPINK.

This anniversary feels like a day when I’m mostly sorry.

Over these 10 years as BLACKPINK and as Jisoo, many things have happened, but I always wanted to show only good sides and be someone who brings happiness in difficult moments. Knowing that many BLINKs are upset makes my heart feel heavy.
