Despite Putting SM On Blast In 2024, SM Announces Red Velvet’s Joy Has Renewed Her Contract With Them
Red Velvet’s Joy has surprisingly renewed her contract with SM Entertainment!
On January 14, SM Entertainment announced, “We have successfully renewed our contract with Joy based on the trust we’ve built over the years. Following Seulgi and Irene, we are delighted to continue our beautiful partnership with Joy. We will do our best to support her so she can fully showcase her limitless potential not only as a member of Red Velvet but also as a solo artist and actress.”
Joy shared her thoughts through the agency, stating, “After 10 years of trust and shared beliefs with the people I’ve worked with, I had deep conversations and felt that I want to continue moving forward with them in a positive direction. I will do my best to showcase various sides of myself to fans through the positive synergy with SM Entertainment.”
Debuting with Red Velvet in August 2014, Joy has released numerous hit songs, including “Ice Cream Cake” and “Red Flavor.” Last September, she successfully wrapped up Red Velvet’s 10th-anniversary Asia fan concert tour.
In addition to group activities, Joy has been actively pursuing her solo career, releasing the special album “Hello” in 2021. She has also ventured into various fields, including hosting TV shows, acting in dramas, participating in OSTs, and making her mark in the fashion world.
In Mid-2024, Joy put SM on blast for their poor planning of the group’s 10th anniversary album. Joy wrote, “Until when is this going to be a secret? Or did they forget to let people know? Or they can’t? Or maybe they’ll release it next week?”
SM Entertainment is home to notable artists such as Kangta, BoA, TVXQ!, EXO, NCT, aespa, and RIIZE.
