Famous Former Kpop Idol Members Makes His Return 5 Years After Marijuana Smoking Controversy
Jung Ilhoon (35), who left the group BTOB due to habitual marijuana smoking charges, returned after 5 years.
On the 21st of November, Jung Ilhoon wrote on his personal account: “Hello, I greet you after a long time through the single ‘Lullaby.’ I sincerely thank the fans who supported me during the long wait.”
He added: “I also thank many people who helped me. It seems like a particularly emotional day for the fans and me, as it’s the moment we dreamed of. Please continue supporting me. I’m very thankful and love you.”
Jung Ilhoon’s new release is his first in about five years since “Spoiler” in February 2019.
Previously, from July 2016 to January 2019, Jung Ilhoon transferred over 130 million won and purchased and smoked marijuana and liquid marijuana 161 times, for which he was caught in December 2020.
Afterward, he left BTOB. In his first trial, he was sentenced to two years in prison and fined about 133 million won, being detained in court. However, he appealed due to excessive sentencing. The appellate court sentenced him to two years in prison, suspended for three years, with 40 hours of drug treatment program attendance, releasing him after about six months.
In response, Jung Ilhoon wrote on his account: “I am truly sorry for causing deep pain due to my wrongdoing. I deeply regret tarnishing the love and memories you and I could give each other due to my wrong actions and am deeply ashamed of my foolish self. I promise to live striving to be a better person.”
