Famous Comedian Accused Of Belittling Virtual Idols Due To Her Remarks, Issues Apology To PLAVE Fans

Comedian Kim Shin Young has officially apologized on air for her remarks about the virtual idol group “PLAVE.”

On February 16, during her radio show, she commented on PLAVE’s new song Dash, saying, “How do you watch them when they aren’t visible? They can’t appear on our show. I know I should accept this kind of culture, but I still can’t adjust to it.” These remarks sparked backlash from PLAVE fans, who flooded the program’s message board and social media with complaints, calling her words “careless and dismissive of an active virtual idol group and its fans.”

Due to the mounting backlash, On the February 17 live broadcast of MBC FM4U’s Noon’s Hope Song, Kim Shin Young, she introduced PLAVE’s song I’ll Wait as the opening track and said, “I failed to read the current trends. I was rude,” referring to her previous comments over the weekend.

She added, “I feel the weight and responsibility of my words. I sincerely apologize. I didn’t consider the feelings of the fans,” and promised to learn from this experience to prevent similar incidents in the future. Kim Shin Young continued, “I apologize to those who may have felt upset over the weekend because of my words. I considered posting on social media, but since this happened on the radio, I wanted to apologize directly through the broadcast.”


Meanwhile, PLAVE is a five-member virtual idol group that debuted in March 2023. They released their third mini-album Caligo Part 1 on February 3, with the title track Dash quickly climbing music charts.
