Beloved Korean DJ Bids Final Goodbye To Wife Holding A Funeral In Taiwan
Koo Jun Yeop (54) said his final goodbye to his late wife, Barbie Hsu (48).
Barbie Hsu’s funeral was held on the 15th of March at Jinbaoshan Memorial Park in New Taipei City, Taiwan. Attending the ceremony were her husband, Koo Jun Yeop, her two children, her younger sister Dee Hsu, and her mother as they bid farewell to the late actress.
Initially, the family considered a tree burial, honoring Barbie Hsu’s wishes, but after much deliberation, they changed the location. Koo Jun Yeop explained, “I wanted an independent space where I could visit and be with her anytime,” ultimately choosing Jinbaoshan as the final resting place.
Jinbaoshan is one of Taiwan’s most renowned memorial parks, where many stars have been laid to rest. The family is reportedly considering erecting a memorial statue in her honor.
Barbie Hsu’s remains were cremated in Japan over three days before being transported to Taiwan on the 5th. However, Koo Jun Yeop struggled to hold the funeral immediately. He kept her ashes at home for a month, preparing himself for their final goodbye, before finally laying her to rest.
On the day of the funeral, Taiwan was hit by heavy rain. Koo Jun Yeop was seen clutching his wife’s urn in his arms, unable to move for a long time, overcome with grief.
Local media reported, “Koo Jun Yeop appeared noticeably gaunt.” It was said that he wept throughout the ceremony, unable to hold back his tears as he carried her remains to their final resting place.
After the ceremony, Dee Hsu reassured the public, saying, “Everything went smoothly. Thank you for your concern.”
Koo Jun Yeop and Barbie Hsu’s love story was like a movie. The two dated for about a year in 1998 before parting ways. Barbie Hsu later married businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2011, with whom she had a son and a daughter, but the couple divorced in 2021.
In March 2022, after 20 years apart, Barbie Hsu and Koo Jun Yeop reunited and rekindled their fated love. However, tragedy struck when Barbie Hsu suddenly passed away on February 2 in Japan due to complications from pneumonia.
Expressing his sorrow, Koo Jun Yeop said, “I sincerely thank everyone who has mourned for Hsu. Right now, I am going through indescribable grief and pain, feeling as if my heart is being torn apart.”
The love he found again after 20 years has now left him after only three.
