AKMU‘s Lee Chan Hyuk and former fromis_9 member Lee Saerom have reportedly ended their relationship.

According to industry insiders on the 21st of January, Lee Chan Hyuk and Lee Saerom, who had been dating for about a year, broke up last year.

The two were first rumored to be dating in October 2022. Reports surfaced after sightings of them on a date at a workshop and similar photos posted on their social media accounts fueled the speculation. At the time, Lee Chan Hyuk’s agency, YG Entertainment, stated, “It is difficult to confirm as it pertains to the artist’s private life,” while Lee Saerom’s agency, Pledis Entertainment, remained silent. Their restrained responses were interpreted by many as an implicit acknowledgment of the relationship.

According to sources, the couple continued to see each other after the dating rumors but eventually decided to part ways last year. Since they never officially confirmed their relationship, it is unlikely that either party will release an official statement regarding their breakup.

Later on the same day, a rep from Lee Chan Hyuk’s agency, YG Entertainment, told Herald POP, “It is the artist’s private life, so we cannot confirm it.”

Lee Chan Hyuk first gained public attention with his sister Lee Suhyun as the sibling duo AKMU through SBS’s K-Pop Star 2. After officially debuting in 2014, AKMU released numerous hits, and in 2022, Lee Chan Hyuk showcased his individuality with his first solo album, ERROR.

Lee Saerom debuted in the K-pop industry as a member of fromis_9 in 2017 through Mnet’s Idol School. She actively promoted with the group until their exclusive contracts with Pledis Entertainment ended in December 2022, marking her departure from the agency.
