Famous Singer Has Her Entire Tour Canceled Just Days Before Its Start — What Happened?
The promoter behind singer Lee Hi‘s 10-city Asia-Oceania world tour has been found to have a history of sending cancellation notices without informing the artist first — the same pattern now playing out with Lee Hi’s tour was already used two years ago on another overseas act’s Seoul show.
In April 2024, Sony Music Japan disclosed on its official website the circumstances behind the cancellation of a Seoul concert by Japanese music group DURDN. The show had been scheduled for May 11 of that year at YES24 WonderRock Hall in Seoul.
Sony Music said at the time that the Seoul concert fell through due to issues with obtaining local visas. The company added, “The promoter sent cancellation emails to ticket buyers without sharing the information with DURDN’s members or staff beforehand.” In effect, the audience learned the show was cancelled before the artist and staff did.
The promoter in question was Kinowhite Touring Korea. According to tour information Sony Music had released earlier in March 2024, Kinowhite Touring Korea was listed as the Seoul concert’s promoter, with Red Company and WonderRock listed as co-promoters. The contact point listed for refunds and follow-up after the cancellation was “YES24 Customer Center / Kinowhite Touring Korea.”
Two years later, the same company has resurfaced as the tour promoter for 808 Hi Recordings — the label Lee Hi founded together with rapper Dok2.
Lee Hi’s side said on their official channel on August 4, “On August 2, we were notified by Kinowhite Touring Korea that the tour has been cancelled across every city and that the refund process for concertgoers is beginning.” They added, “This cancellation is not the result of any decision or fault on the artist’s part.”
