Famous Korean Singer Gets Mistreated During Rehearsals At Local Event, Agency Vows Protection For Its Artist
Singer Lee Mujin was reportedly mistreated by an on-site staff member during a rehearsal at a local event.
On June 5, Lee Mujin’s agency, Big Planet Made Entertainment, released an official statement saying, “We deeply regret the inappropriate language and rude behavior directed at Lee Mujin by an on-site staff member during the rehearsal on the day of the event. In light of the seriousness of the matter and in order to protect our artist, we plan to take strong action against the event organizers and the management company involved. We will also take all necessary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.”
The organizers of the 2025 Cheonan K-Culture Expo also issued a second apology via their website and social media on the same day, stating, “We sincerely apologize to Lee Mujin, his fans, and attendees for the unfortunate incident that occurred during the event. We fully acknowledge that no words can undo the hurt caused to Lee Mujin and his fans.”
The city of Cheonan also commented, “The staff member involved has issued an apology. The city has issued a strong warning to the event’s operating agency and conducted internal training. The agency has immediately dismissed the staff member from their role in the event.”
The controversy arose during the rehearsal for the opening ceremony of the 2025 Cheonan K-Culture Expo the previous day. As Lee Mujin was checking the sound by singing, a staff member abruptly interrupted him, saying, “Okay, let’s stop here. What are you doing right now? You’ll have time to adjust the sound during the actual performance. The next team is waiting, so we’ll stop here.”
Caught off guard, Lee Mujin quickly left the stage looking flustered, and the audience responded with boos toward the event organizers. The moment was captured on video and spread quickly across social media, sparking outrage and allegations of staff misconduct. The use of informal speech by the staff member added fuel to the criticism.
Following the incident, the organizers stated, “An unfortunate incident occurred due to miscommunication among on-site staff during the rehearsal. We sincerely apologize to the attendees and fans. After the incident, the staff member issued a formal apology to the artist and related personnel. We’ve taken strong disciplinary action and conducted internal training to ensure such incidents do not happen again.”
