Famous Singer-Actor Discovers His Face Being Used On Investment Site, To Take Legal Action
Actor and singer Lee Seung Gi‘s portrait rights were found to have been used without permission in an investment solicitation advertisement, prompting his agency to take legal action.
On the 15th of April, his agency Big Planet Made Entertainment issued an official statement saying, “Recently, the portrait rights of our artist Lee Seung Gi have been used without permission for false advertisements on an online investment site. Lee Seung Gi has no connection whatsoever to the company in question.”
The problematic website is known to lure users by promoting referral-based recruitment and investment, using Lee Seung Gi’s image as if he were a model for the company to gain trust.
The agency stated, “We have already sent a content-certified mail to the site operator and are proceeding with all civil and criminal legal procedures, including filing a complaint. We will respond firmly to illegal actions that misuse Lee Seung Gi’s portrait rights.”
Big Planet Made also expressed its intention to actively protect portrait rights without tolerance in the event of similar cases in the future.
