Famous Kpop Girl Group Fansign Event In China Canceled, Fans Suspect Tense China-Japan Relations

LE SSERAFIM will no longer hold a fan sign event in Shanghai!

On December 12, the organizer of the event posted an official statement to their SNS to announce the decision. They wrote, “Due to force majeure, after careful discussions with multiple related departments, we have inevitably decided to cancel.” No specific reason was disclosed.

They added that all the tickets will be refunded and apologized to fans for the announcement, “Once again, we sincerely apologize to the fans who gave this event your love and interest. Thank you for always supporting LE SSERAFIM. We feel it is a pity that this event was canceled, and we sincerely apologize to the fans who waited for a long time.”

LE SSERAFIM consists of a total of five members. Among them, two members, Sakura and Kazuha, are Japanese.

In addition to LE SSERAFIM, similar cases have occurred one after another recently. On the 6th, a fan meeting for trainees from the music agency Incode Entertainment, which had been scheduled to be held in Shanghai, was canceled on the day of the event.

This fan meeting was scheduled to feature Japanese members as well as Chinese members.

Up until now, in China, large-scale performances by K-pop singers have been difficult due to the “Hallyu ban” (restriction on Korean Wave content). However, small-scale fan meetings or fan signing events without song performances were carried out.

However, as even small-scale events involving teams that include Japanese members continue to run into difficulties, anxiety within the industry is growing, this is because of the conflicts between China and Japan.
