One Of The Biggest Korean Trot Singers’ Home Seized Due To Unpaid Taxes, Agency Explains What Happened

One of the biggest, if not the biggest Korean trot singer, Lim Young Woong, had his residence seized due to unpaid taxes.

On March 26, Lim Young Woong’s agency, Fish Music, addressed reports about the singer’s residence in Hapjeong-dong being temporarily seized due to unpaid taxes.

The agency explained, “Lim Young Woong’s apartment mailbox is located on the third floor, not on the basement or ground level, making it difficult to check mail regularly. As a result, he was unable to receive his local tax bill, which led to a seizure notice.”

Previously, it was reported that Lim Young Woong’s residence in Hapjeong-dong was seized by the Mapo District Office in October last year due to overdue local taxes.

The agency further stated, “After becoming aware of the issue earlier this year, the outstanding tax was immediately paid, and the seizure has since been lifted. We sincerely apologize for not managing this matter more carefully.”

According to property records, the Mapo District Office in Seoul seized Lim Young Woong’s penthouse in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, on October 16 last year.

The seizure was lifted three months later, on January 13 of this year.

The cause of the seizure is recorded as “Seizure (Tax Collection Division-19632),” with the right holder listed as “Mapo-gu (Seoul Special City).” The Tax Collection Division of Mapo-gu is responsible for collecting local taxes, miscellaneous income, and transportation-related tax delinquencies. Lim Young Woong settled the overdue taxes within three months, leading to the removal of the seizure.

Lim Young Woong purchased the penthouse, one of only four units on the top floor of Mecenatpolis, for 5.1 billion won [$3,477,750] in September 2022 and has been residing there since.
