Former NewJeans member Danielle had this to say after NewJeans shocked fans with a return announcement.

Danielle wrote on social media on the 22nd, “Life can get blurry sometimes, but the light always comes back around. May you keep shining until then.”

That same day, marking their fourth anniversary, NewJeans surprised fans with a group photo and video featuring the four-member lineup of Minji, Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein, signaling a full-fledged return.

At midnight on their anniversary, the group posted a special video titled “2026 Summer of NewJeans” to social media and their YouTube channel.

NewJeans had pursued independent activities starting in November 2024 after demanding the termination of their exclusive contract, but entered a hiatus following last year’s October 30th court ruling upholding the validity of that contract.

After the ruling, the members shifted course and returned to their original agency. ADOR, meanwhile, held Danielle responsible for leaving the group and notified her of the contract’s termination in December of last year; legal proceedings between the two are still ongoing.
