No BLACKPINK Member Has Renewed Their Individual Contract With YG Entertainment
Girl group BLACKPINK‘s members Jennie, Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo are all leaving their agency, YG Entertainment.
YG announced on December 29 that they have agreed not to proceed with separate contracts for individual activities and that they will support BLACKPINK’s activities with their best efforts.
They added, “We will cheer for the members’ individual activities with warm hearts.”
YG has previously maintained a position of “under discussion” regarding individual exclusive contracts, but they have now formalized the separation.
However, BLACKPINK will continue their “group” activities with YG.
On the 6th of this month, YG’s chief producer, Yang Hyun Suk, announced the signing of the “group” exclusive contract and stated, “We will do our best to make BLACKPINK shine even brighter in the global music market.”
At that time, YG’s stock price rose over 25% in just one day.
With the official announcement of BLACKPINK’s departure from YG, it seems that the members will continue their individual activities but come together for group activities.
Recently, member Jennie revealed on her social media (SNS) that she has established her own label, ‘ODD ATELIER.’
