NewJeans’ Danielle’s Older Sister Olivia Acknowledges Plagiarism Accusations, Issues Apology
NewJeans’ Danielle’s older sister and singer-songwriter Olivia Marsh has been embroiled in a plagiarism controversy, which she has acknowledged and apologized for.
On the 24th of February, her agency admitted to the accusations in an official statement addressing the situation.
According to the agency, they have reached an amicable agreement with Isaac Dunbar, the singer whose song was reportedly plagiarized, and are currently working on ensuring the original creator’s rights are recognized, including adjusting the songwriting credits and necessary legal processes.
Olivia Marsh released her first mini-album, Meanwhile, on the 13th. The album reflects her journey of self-discovery and passion for music.
The album consists of five self-written and composed tracks, including the double title songs “STRATEGY” and “BACKSEAT,” along with “WATERWORKS,” “42,” and “PINA COLADA.”

Hello. We would like to address the recent controversy surrounding Olivia Marsh.
On the 13th, Olivia Marsh released her first album, Meanwhile. Following its release, concerns were raised regarding the similarity between one of the album’s double title tracks, “Backseat,” and Isaac Dunbar’s “Onion Boy.”
After directly comparing the two songs, we found Isaac Dunbar’s claims to be valid. As a result, we have reached an amicable agreement with him, ensuring that the original creator’s rights are protected. We are currently handling necessary processes, including adjusting songwriting credits.
This decision reflects our shared commitment to creativity and fair artistic practices. We will continue to work with transparency and respect for all creators.
Moving forward, we will take this incident as a lesson to reassess our internal systems and prevent similar situations from occurring. Once again, we sincerely apologize to Isaac Dunbar and to the fans who may have been disappointed by this issue.
