Kpop Idol Withdraws From Debut Team Due Persistent Malicious Rumors That Cause Severe Psychological Distress

Starship Entertainment has announced that Park Jun Hwan has voluntarily withdrawn from his debut team following persistent malicious rumors.

On June 2, Starship released an official statement via their official channels addressing Park Jun Hwan’s departure from the debut survival show “Debut’s Plan.” The company clarified, “The recent rumors circulating online about Park Jun Hwan are completely untrue. Through full academic records and testimony from relevant parties, we have confirmed that Park Jun Hwan is a sincere and responsible student.”

They went on to reveal, “We identified activity in anonymous open chat rooms and social media accounts impersonating former classmates. We have secured objective evidence that confirms these were impersonations.” Emphasizing the malicious nature of the rumors, the agency added, “Due to the baseless rumors, malicious comments, and personal attacks, Park Jun Hwan, who is still a minor, has suffered severe psychological distress to the point where it has seriously impacted his daily life.”

Despite Starship’s efforts to support his recovery through professional counseling, Park Jun Hwan expressed his firm desire to step away from team activities. The agency stated, “We respect his decision and have agreed to allow him time for sufficient rest. We will continue to support him as he recovers and pursues a new dream beyond being a member of the debut team.”

Starship also declared they will take legal action against the originators and spreaders of these rumors, stressing, “Online sexual harassment and defamation against minors are serious crimes, and we will not overlook them. Although Park Jun Hwan will not debut, we hope everyone can respect and support his decision as he moves forward.”

To make their point clearer, Starship even released a handwritten letter of apology from the individual who spread the false rumors, publicly affirming that the allegations were unfounded. Nevertheless, Park Jun Hwan’s dream was severely impacted by the exposure of his private life under the guise of unverified claims.
