Famous Korean YouTuber Faces Backlash For New Video, Idol Wife Gets Dragged Into It
The controversy surrounding YouTuber Park Wi’s release of CCTV footage from his KTX fall accident has now spread to his wife, former Secret member Song Ji Eun.
As backlash grew over Park Wi releasing CCTV footage showing the public service worker who had been assisting him, some online users began targeting Song Ji Eun’s social media, flooding it with malicious comments related to Park Wi.
On August 22nd, a series of comments aimed at Park Wi appeared under a recent post on Song Ji Eun’s social media.
Some netizens left comments criticizing Park Wi, such as, “Watch out for your husband. What he’s doing isn’t normal,” “That public service worker is so pitiable,” “Stop playing the victim,” and “Hypocrite.” Some comments also brought up volunteer work Park Wi had previously shared publicly, directing criticism at him that was unrelated to the current controversy.
In particular, some have pointed out that the backlash against Song Ji Eun has crossed a line, given that she has no direct connection to the release of the CCTV footage or the controversy itself, and is only being targeted because she is Park Wi’s wife.
Park Wi was previously injured on August 14th when, while getting off a KTX train, his wheelchair wheel caught on the foot of a public service worker who was holding the ramp in place, causing him to fall forward. He later released CCTV footage of the incident on YouTube, which drew criticism for turning the worker’s mistake into public content.
As the controversy grew, Park Wi deleted the video and apologized, saying, “I didn’t consider the position of the worker, who did everything they could to help me at the scene and sincerely apologized.”
Meanwhile, Park Wi and Song Ji Eun married in 2024.
