Popular Leader Of Kpop Group Leaves Agency Of 9 Years, Whats His Next Step?
Hui of the group PENTAGON has ended his exclusive contract with Cube Entertainment.
On July 16, Cube Entertainment released an official statement announcing the surprising news. They wrote, “After thorough discussions, we have recently ended our exclusive contract with Hui.”
They continued, “Since debuting as the leader and main vocalist of PENTAGON in 2016, Hui has consistently showcased his outstanding musical talent and passion, always presenting new sides of himself. He has continued to challenge himself as a producer and solo artist, building his own musical world.”
Hui recently sustained a nasal bone fracture while filming JTBC’s variety show Let’s Play Soccer 4 and has paused his activities. Cube added, “Although our exclusive contract has ended, we will continue to support Hui in every way possible as he recovers from his injury,” emphasizing their commitment to his recovery.
“We thank Hui for his dedication and hard work and kindly ask for continued support and interest in his new journey ahead. Our company will also sincerely cheer for Hui’s future,” the agency concluded.
Later, Hui took to his Instagram to share a handwritten letter with fans, he wrote,
First of all, my exclusive contract with Cube Entertainment has come to an end.
Since my trainee days, through debut and until now, Cube has been a company that walked with me for a long time, so it holds a special place in my heart and I am truly grateful.
Even as I write this message, it still doesn’t feel real.
There’s a bit of fear, too.
But I believe it’s time for me to carefully prepare for a new beginning, so I’ve made the decision to take a new step forward.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the staff at Cube who genuinely worked hard to help me grow into the artist ‘Hui’, shedding tears and sharing laughter along the way.
Being able to work with such good people at a great company was a huge blessing for me.
I will continue to support Cube’s growth and its artists from afar.
And to fans, he added,

I know you must’ve been surprised by the sudden news of my injury, and now with this contract news as well, I worried that it might weigh even more heavily on your hearts.
I’m focusing on recovery and resting well, with the strong desire to return to the stage looking better than ever!

Its unknown whether this means Hui has left the group PENTAGON or not, as neither him nor Cube have clarified this point. Many fans hope the group can continue to create music together even as more members depart Cube.
