The police investigation into the Japanese women who unexpectedly kissed BTS member Jin has been suspended.

According to reports, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul decided to suspend the investigation (designated as “suspect suspension”) on the 26th of March.

The police can suspend an investigation if the suspect’s whereabouts are unknown, if they have been abroad for more than two months, or if they are unable to appear due to a serious illness or other reasons preventing an extended period of investigation.

One of the Japanese women, identified as A, is reportedly unable to appear immediately but may be available in a few months. Meanwhile, the other suspect, B, has not yet been located.

The incident occurred on June 13, 2024, during the “2024 Festa” event “Jin Greetings” at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Songpa-gu, Seoul, where Jin held a free hug event with about 1,000 fans. During the event, a fan kissed Jin on the cheek, sparking allegations of sexual harassment.

On June 19, the police received a complaint from a netizen requesting an investigation under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. The investigation was launched on February 27, with A and others booked on charges of indecent assault in a crowded public place.
