Singer And TV Personality Sleepy Reveals He’s Removing His Tattoos In Order “Not To Embarrass His Children”
Singer and TV personality Sleepy, known for the many tattoos that became part of his signature style, has revealed that he is now undergoing tattoo removal procedures for the sake of his children.
Recently, a video was uploaded to his YouTube channel. Sleepy shared that his perspective on tattoos changed after his children started attending daycare. He explained, “From the perspective of other parents, I thought there might be people who see me as ‘the dad with tattoos.'”
A similar conversation had already come up in a video released last month. While making a pinky promise with his daughter, the production staff commented that the tattoos covering his hands and arms gave off a stronger impression than expected. Sleepy agreed, admitting that he has a significant number of tattoos.
He joked, “I actually have way more tattoos than people think. To joke about it, I have more than Jay Park. I wanted to beat him in the tattoo department. Jay Park only has enough for short sleeves, but both of my arms are completely covered.”
Sleepy went on to say, “I feel embarrassed when my tattoos are visible at daycare. I find myself wondering whether they might have a negative influence on my children. At the very least, I want to get to the point where my tattoos aren’t visible when I’m wearing long sleeves. I want to be a father my children can be proud of. Whether someone has tattoos or not isn’t what’s important—it’s how they live their life—but I want to feel more confident and comfortable with myself.”
Eventually, he visited a dermatology clinic to receive a consultation about tattoo removal. On the way to the appointment, he reiterated his motivation, saying, “I want to be a cool dad, a dad my children can be proud of, and a clean-cut dad.”
During the consultation, the doctor asked if there was a specific reason he wanted to remove the tattoos. Sleepy explained that his career has changed over time.
“If I were still only doing rap, I probably wouldn’t care as much,” he said. “But now I do variety shows and even trot music, so image-wise it doesn’t always fit.”
He also noted that becoming a father changed his perspective. “Since having children, even without anyone saying anything directly to me, I’ve started thinking for myself about whether it’s educationally appropriate.”
When Sleepy asked how much it would cost to remove all of the tattoos across his body, the doctor explained the estimated expense. The production team muted the exact amount, but after hearing it, Sleepy reacted with a shocked expression and joked, “I’m going to end up broke, aren’t I?” drawing laughter.
Sleepy married his non-celebrity wife, who is eight years younger than him, in 2022. The couple now have a son and a daughter, and he has recently been receiving support from fans for openly sharing his parenting journey and family-focused lifestyle.
