Ravi, Who Attempted To Evade Military Via Fake Epilepsy Diagnosis, Issues New Apology Several Months After Discharge
Ravi, who caused public outrage for attempting to evade military service with a fake epilepsy diagnosis, released his first official apology after being discharged from service.
Ravi shared a statement on the 27th of March through his SNS, addressing his trial process, completion of service, and reflecting on his wrongdoing.
He said, “While serving as a public service worker from October 2022, my service was suspended due to the trial for violating the Military Service Act,” and added, “Afterward, following the Military Manpower Administration’s decision and instructions, I completed the remaining service period and was discharged on December 13, 2025.”
He continued, “Looking back on myself, I felt deeply ashamed that I had made excuses about my personal circumstances and environment and hoped for understanding,” and “I realized that my cowardly choice could cause harm and hurt to others.”
Previously, Ravi was indicted for conspiring with a military broker to fabricate an epilepsy scenario, even acting out fainting episodes, and submitting false medical documents in an attempt to evade military service. It was revealed that he had meticulously planned the act, including pressuring a doctor for a treatment opinion despite the doctor initially stating that symptoms were unconfirmed.
Both the first and second trials sentenced him to one year in prison with a two-year probation period, along with 120 hours of community service. The court stated that while the crime of obstructing public duty through deception was serious, they considered that he was a first-time offender, admitted his wrongdoing, and was expected to fulfill his military duty. He also departed his former VIXX as the controversy intensified.
After avoiding imprisonment, Ravi completed the remainder of his military duty as a public service worker.
He concluded, “I once again apologize to those who were hurt by my wrong actions,” adding, “I will continue to learn and discipline myself in order to live as a better person.”
However, public sentiment toward him remains cold due to his attempt to evade mandatory military service, and his return to the entertainment industry remains uncertain.
