The Red Velvet members shared their thoughts on their 10th anniversary and talked about their idol lives!

On the 1st of July, Shin Dong Yup’s ‘Jjanhyung‘ posted a video with Red Velvet’s Yeri, Joy and Seulgi.

Joy, reflecting on their recent 10th anniversary, said, “The number 10 doesn’t really hit home,” expressing her deep emotions.

Joy mentioned, “I happened to watch a compilation of broadcast videos from our debut until now,” and started by saying, “I was shocked by my appearance at the beginning of our debut.”

She continued, “At the beginning of our debut, I was always smiling brightly, but as time went on, I became more and more exhausted.”

She added, “Since ‘Zimzalabim’ is a spell that calls for happiness, I thought I should smile happily to convince the viewers of this nonsensical spell, so I smiled as happily as I could.”

Joy reminisced, “At that time, I didn’t care about the performance; I only thought about the meaning of the song. I worked earnestly, thinking it might be Red Velvet’s last stage.”

Yeri shared, “Ironically, the period of ‘Red Flavor’, ‘Peek-A-Boo’, and ‘Bad Boy’ was when the members, including myself, were struggling the most physically and mentally.”

She continued, “After overcoming that period, it’s not easy for us to reach the 10th anniversary as a girl group, and we’re thinking a lot about how to celebrate it more joyfully.”

She added, “We also realistically worry about how long we can continue to work as a group. As time passes and we age, we seriously think about what we should do for a living. Being a celebrity is not a stable job, is it?”

In response to Yeri’s concerns, Shin Dong-yeop said, “Whenever I feel like I’m becoming arrogant or conceited, I remind myself not to lose my original mindset. Many people train as trainees for a long time and still don’t achieve their dreams.”

He added, “If you’re not grateful for getting this far, you’ll always feel empty. You have to endure thinking there are many things to be happy about.”

Joy confessed, “Actually, I took a break last year,” and expressed, “I felt like I didn’t know who I was.”

She continued, “Before I could even understand who I was, people already had their evaluations of me,” sharing the struggles of being a celebrity.

Are you surprised by what Red Velvet’s Joy had to say?
