Former BIGBANG Member Seungri Back In Trouble, Accused Of Assaulting Man During Dinner

Singer Seungri (36, real name Lee Seung Hyun), formerly of the group BIGBANG, is under police investigation after being accused of assaulting a man in his 30s.

According to News1 on September 10th, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station is investigating a complaint filed against Seungri on aggravated assault charges, which was received on the 26th of last month.

Seungri is accused of assaulting a man in his 30s who was dining with him at a restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul. Police are investigating the detailed circumstances of the incident based on the contents of the complaint.

Seungri debuted as a member of BIGBANG in 2006, but was identified as a central figure in the so-called “Burning Sun gate” scandal, which broke out at the club Burning Sun in 2019. He was subsequently tried on a total of nine charges, including habitual gambling, arranging prostitution, and embezzlement, and the Supreme Court finalized his sentence of one year and six months in prison.

He left BIGBANG following the incident and was released from Yeoju Prison in Gyeonggi Province on February 9th, 2023. Since his release, he has occasionally been spotted at clubs overseas, including in Cambodia, keeping his whereabouts in the public eye.
