SHINee’s Taemin Under Fire For Alleged Overpriced Clothing Line Until Agency Denied And Explain The Situation
SHINee’s Taemin faced misunderstanding after a t-shirt was sold for 160,000 won, leading to speculation that he had launched a clothing brand. He clarified, “I am not in the clothing business.”
On the 23rd of August, Taemin’s agency, Big Planet Made, issued a statement saying, “The claim about ‘Taemin launching a clothing brand’ that circulated online on the 22nd is not true.”
The agency explained, “Taemin designed the t-shirt himself as a special gift for fans while preparing for his mini album ‘ETERNAL.’ The t-shirts were given away through a lottery to fans visiting the exhibition starting on the 22nd in Seoul’s Seongsu-dong at Informal Square.”
They added, “This clothing was made as a gesture of thanks to the fans, but there was a mistake by the clothing production company, which wrongly listed the items under Taemin’s name, causing confusion among fans. The production company has officially apologized to Taemin and the agency and assured that such mistakes will not happen again.”
Taemin also explained on his social media, “I am not in the clothing business. I made these clothes as gifts for grateful fans, not with the intention of selling them.”
The confusion arose when a fan who won a ‘lucky draw’ at Taemin’s exhibition posted a review that included a website suspected of being Taemin’s clothing brand, leading some to speculate about his involvement in the clothing business. The t-shirts on the site were priced at approximately 160,000 won each leading to backlash over overpriced items.
Meanwhile, Taemin released his mini album ‘ETERNAL’ on the 19th and will kick off his first solo world tour concert at Incheon Inspire Arena on the 31st and September 1st.
