SHINee’s Onew’s side has issued a statement regarding allegations of unlicensed medical practice.

Griffin Entertainment stated on August 12th that Onew had, in the past, visited a clinic on the recommendation of an acquaintance and received treatment for skin care purposes.

The agency explained at the time, “Onew perceived the individual in question to be a doctor or a medical staff member affiliated with the clinic, and there were no circumstances that would have led him to suspect any issue with the legality of the person’s medical license or treatment procedures.”

Onew was questioned once in May regarding the related allegations. He testified to the facts exactly as they occurred at the time and cooperated fully with the investigating authorities.

The agency added, “As the investigation is currently ongoing, we hope that unconfirmed speculation or information that differs from the facts does not spread,” and asked for the public’s understanding.

Onew had previously been caught up in allegations of unlicensed medical practice tied to the so-called “injection aunt” case.

Below is Onew’s agency’s full statement:

Hello. This is Griffin Entertainment.

We would like to share our official position regarding today’s news coverage of our artist Onew.

As stated in our official statement last December, Onew did in fact visit a clinic in the past on the recommendation of an acquaintance and receive treatment for skin care purposes. At the time, Onew understood the individual to be a doctor or a medical staff member affiliated with the clinic, and there were no circumstances that would have raised suspicion about the legality of the person’s medical license or procedures.

Accordingly, during a single investigation conducted this past May, Onew testified to the above facts exactly as they occurred and fully cooperated with the investigating authorities.

As the investigation is currently ongoing, we hope that unconfirmed speculation or information that differs from the facts does not spread. We will continue to do our utmost to protect the rights and interests of our artists.

Thank you.
