SM Abruptly Announces Red Velvet Wendy’s Absence From Its 30th Anniversary Concert, Why?

Red Velvet’s Wendy will not be participating in SM Entertainment’s 30th Anniversary concert.

On January 6, SM Entertainment announced Wendy’s absence via a notice on the online ticket platform Melon Ticket and through a group message sent to ticket holders of the “SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in Seoul” concert.

The agency stated, “Wendy from Red Velvet will not be performing due to personal reasons. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the change in the lineup. Ticket cancellations and refunds are available without cancellation fees through the ticketing platform’s customer service.”

This follows an earlier announcement regarding Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon, who will also not be attending the event.

The “SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in Seoul” concert will take place over two days, January 11 and 12, at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.

The concert features a star-studded lineup of SM artists, including Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon, SHINee’s Key and Minho, EXO’s Suho and Chanyeol, Red Velvet, NCT 127, NCT DREAM, WayV, aespa, RIIZE, NCT WISH, nævis, Raiden, and others. Additionally, artists from SM’s sub-labels, such as SMTR25, Mar Vista, SM Jazz Trio, and Min Jiwoon, will also perform.
