Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon will not be participating in SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in SEOUL after all.

On December 11, the online ticketing platform Melon Ticket announced a change to the event lineup. They stated, “Taeyeon from Girls’ Generation will not appear in SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in SEOUL. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this change. Ticket cancellations and refunds can be processed through the ticketing platform’s customer service without cancellation fees.”

Previously, Taeyeon personally called out the SM staff and said she never agreed to perform at the concert and she was curious why they added her name to it. She said, I don’t think I’ll go to SM’s concert, there aren’t any good conversations going back and forth between the company and me. the notice… they haven’t changed it, what are they planning?”

Many are criticizing the agency for announcing her withdrawal so late after she’d said it a while back. Many are also wondering what this means for the future of Taeyeon and SM and whether she’ll renew with the agency given her criticism of the agency’s work on her most recent album.

Despite Taeyeon’s absence, the concert will feature Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon, SHINee’s Key and Minho, EXO’s Suho and Chanyeol, Red Velvet, NCT 127, NCT DREAM, WayV, aespa, RIIZE, NCT WISH, nævis, Raiden, and more.

Additionally, new groups and artists under SM Entertainment, such as SMTR25 (a group of 25 trainees), Mar Vista, SM Jazz Trio, and Min Jiwoon, will also perform.

SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in SEOUL is scheduled to take place on January 11 and 12, 2025, at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.
