Starship Announces Crackdown On Hate Comments Against IVE’ Wonyoung Amid Airport Controversy
Starship Entertainment has issued a new statement addressing the recent rise in hate comments aimed at IVE’s Wonyoung.
The statement was released on June 18. The agency promises no settlements in regards to any defamation, spreading false information, sexual harassment and sexual insults, and invasion of privacy.
This comes after the recent controversy involving Wonyoung at the Seoul airport where she was criticized for her behavior during security check in. The person working at the gate reportedly asked her to lower her mask three times before she did it properly enough for an identification. This created a buzz among fans and nonfans who debated whether she was in the wrong or not.
While the agency does not specify the reason behind the new lawsuits statement, many believe its related to the hate she’d been receiving recently because of it.

We are continuously monitoring and taking legal action regarding the creation and distribution of malicious posts targeting our artist Wonyoung.
After checking the progress with investigative authorities, we have confirmed that investigations are underway to identify suspects and secure evidence in the ongoing cases filed by our company.
In particular, for domestic platforms such as Naver Blog and DC Inside, warrant procedures are currently in progress to obtain subscriber information. For overseas platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), international cooperation procedures are also being pursued to identify the authors and secure related information.
We are continuously collecting evidence of posts and actions that infringe on the rights and interests of our artist through fan reports and our own monitoring.
For confirmed illegal acts such as defamation, spreading false information, sexual harassment and sexual insults, and invasion of privacy, we are pursuing strong legal action, including both criminal and civil measures.
Meanwhile, we are also continuously monitoring rights-infringing activities against all artists under our company, not only Wonyoung, and will apply the same principles in taking legal action.
Regardless of post deletion, account deactivation, or switching to private settings, we will pursue legal responsibility to the end based on the evidence we have secured.
