T.O.P Addresses Possibility Of A BIGBANG Reunion After His Return To Entertainment Activities, His Answer Surprises Fans
Former BIGBANG member T.O.P (Choi Seung Hyun) recently opened up about various topics, including his past mistakes, departure from the group, and his comeback through “Squid Game 2” through his 1st press interview in over 10 years.
On January 15, T.O.P participated in an interview at a café in Seoul’s Sogyeok-dong to discuss his role in Netflix’s original series “Squid Game 2.” He also talked about BIGBANG.
T.O.P addressed ongoing speculation about a BIGBANG reunion, despite having left the group three years ago. Reflecting on his departure, he explained, “I don’t remember the exact timing, but after releasing ‘Still Life,’ I thought of it as BIGBANG’s final project for me. I poured everything into that work, gave it my all, and then ended my contract with the company.”
He continued, “For the past seven years, I’ve essentially lived a life cut off from society, spending my time at home or in my music studio. I immersed myself in creating music because it was the only place where I felt like I could breathe. I was making music to survive, pouring my dark emotions and pain into the process. I’ve created an enormous amount of music during that time, and I feel a profound responsibility to share those songs with my fans.”

As for his future activities, T.O.P expressed, “I believe it’s my responsibility to console and heal the fans who were hurt by my actions. While I can’t give any concrete details yet, I’m confident that the time for that will come soon.”
When asked about public sentiment suggesting that his role in “Squid Game 2” might pave the way for a BIGBANG return, T.O.P firmly dismissed the possibility. “I want to be clear again—I feel I have no face to return. It’s been far too long since I made that decision, and my feelings haven’t changed even once since then,” he said, definitively putting reunion rumors to rest.
He continued, “Even now, I see fans holding onto hope for a reunion, and while I don’t feel anger, it breaks my heart. I can’t even entertain those thoughts. Seeing photos on social media where I’m tagged alongside the other members—pictures of us always being together—fills me with guilt. It feels like looking at photos of a family I’ve been separated from. That guilt is something I think I’ll carry for the rest of my life. Unless you’ve experienced it firsthand, it’s impossible to fully understand the pain. I also regret the way I handled my departure and the closure of that chapter. For that, I deeply apologize from the bottom of my heart.”
