Famous SM Singer’s Japan Concerts Get Canceled Merely 2 Days Before Scheduled Date Due To ‘Missing Equipment,’ + Singer Expresses Frustration

Famous SM Singer Taeyeon’s Japan concert has been canceled, and for what many believe to be utterly ridiculous reasons.

Last night, her agency SM Entertainment announced through her official Japanese website on April 17, “The equipment being used for the Asia tour is currently being transported to Japan but has not arrived yet. It is extremely difficult to prepare properly for the concert under these circumstances.”

They added, “After repeated discussions with the relevant parties and considering all possibilities, we have concluded that holding the concert is not feasible. We deeply apologize to everyone who was looking forward to the show,” and noted that they are reviewing the possibility of rescheduling the concert.

Many were surprised at the reasoning given for the concert cancellation as many believed the reasoning was not sufficient. Many also talked about how inconvenient it must be for the fans who had bought tickets, hotels and even traveled to see the concert.

On April 18, Taeyeon took to the fan communication platform Bubble to address the cancellation of her Japan concert due to undelivered equipment. She began by saying, “I’m worried about SONE (the official Girls’ Generation fandom name), and my heart feels so heavy that I don’t even know what to say.”

Taeyeon continued, “I really hate this situation and feel so sorry to SONE. The concert, which was built on everyone’s hard work and anticipation, just disappeared in an instant. It feels like it was stolen, and I don’t know how to express this emptiness and devastation.”

She added, “This situation. These repeated mistakes, this entire process is just so disappointing and embarrassing that honestly, it’s hard to believe, but SONE must feel it even more than I do. Even in such an absurd situation, thank you for comforting me.”

Originally, Taeyeon was scheduled to hold performances in Japan on April 19 and 20 as part of her solo tour “The TENSE in JAPAN.”

Meanwhile, Taeyeon began her Asia tour on March 7–9 in Seoul. She successfully held solo concerts at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines on March 29, and at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta, Indonesia on April 12.
