THE BOYZ’s Agency Chairwoman Issues An Apology Over Ju Haknyeon’s Controversy As It Escalates Following More Reports

Chairwoman Cha Gawon of One Hundred Label, which manages THE BOYZ, has publicly apologized following the controversy surrounding Ju Haknyeon’s private meeting with well-known former AV actress Asuka Kirara.

On June 18, Chairwoman Cha issued an official statement expressing her regret and apologies.

She wrote,

We sincerely apologize to fans and the public for the deep concern caused by recent situations involving our artists and staff.
We humbly acknowledge our shortcomings in managing the private lives and behavior of our artists and team members. Through these recent events, we have come to deeply recognize our responsibility and are seriously reflecting on our actions.
Going forward, we will strengthen the systems that oversee artists’ personal conduct and behavior. We will also focus on internal education and system improvements to raise ethical standards within the company.”

Chairwoman Cha further emphasized, “Not only will we focus on the artists’ professional activities, but we will also work to ensure that the environment surrounding them can recover and maintain the trust of fans and the public. Once again, we sincerely apologize for the worry and disappointment we have caused.”

Previously, Ju Haknyeon was found to have had a private meeting with Asuka Kirara in Japan, which caused significant public backlash. In response, One Hundred Label released a statement announcing his withdrawal and his contract termination too.

While Chairman Cha’s formal apology sought to address the issue, the controversy is unlikely to die down soon. A report by TenAsia on the same day alleges that Ju Haknyeon had allegedly paid Asuka Kirara for sex, constituting prostitution under Korean law which carries punishment and fines.
