The Korean Nation Pension Service Gets Disrupted Due To Large Influx Of ENHYPEN Fans Requesting They Do Something About Heeseung’s Departure
A surprising incident occurred involving the group ENHYPEN after member Heeseung announced his departure, temporarily disrupting operations at the National Pension Service.
According to Chairman Kim Sung Joo, a sudden surge of international calls flooded the agency’s International Pension Service Center. In just two hours, around 1,500 emails were received, causing temporary paralysis of operations.
This happened after posts spread on social media urging fans to protest to the National Pension Service, which is a major shareholder of HYBE, following Heeseung’s sudden withdrawal from ENHYPEN. As a result, overseas fans began collectively calling the center.
Kim clarified that the International Pension Service Center exists to assist foreign workers in Korea and Koreans working abroad. Due to the incident, people who actually needed pension services experienced major inconvenience. He emphasized that the National Pension Service is a long-term investor managing retirement funds and does not interfere in management or personnel decisions of companies it invests in—including K-pop group lineups.
Previously, HYBE announced the departure of Heeseung from the group ENHYPEN. The news caught fans by surprise since many were unaware of anything being particularly wrong with the group prior to the reveal. Since then, fans have been protesting his departure from the group and championing for his re-addition to it. Some fans suggested people contact the National Pension Service International Pension Support Center in an effort to force HYBE to issue a retraction.

The International Support Center is a department responsible for pension support services for foreign workers in Korea and Koreans working abroad. It is staffed by personnel who can provide consultations in various languages such as English, Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese.
Due to this incident, those calling for pension consultations reportedly experienced significant inconvenience.
The National Pension Service is a long-term investor that manages the public’s retirement funds. Although it invests in numerous companies across more than 80 countries worldwide, it does not intervene in the management or personnel matters of individual companies.
Naturally, it also does not get involved in the formation or member composition of K-pop groups.
Although this was an incident that quickly spread through social media, it served as an opportunity to reflect on the role of the National Pension Service.
The National Pension Service will continue to responsibly manage the public’s valuable retirement funds in a stable manner, while maintaining a strong sense of duty regarding its social impact and responsibilities.
