Thief Who Broke Into Famous Broadcaster’s Home Arrested, Agency Confirms It Was Not An Inside Job

The thief who broke into broadcaster Park Na Rae’s home and stole valuables has now been caught.

On April 14, Park Na Rae’s PR agency, E&P Company, released an official statement confirming that the suspect in the theft case has been apprehended.

The PR representative stated, “We would like to inform you of the current status of the theft incident that recently occurred at Park Na Rae’s residence. We judged the incident to be a theft committed by an outsider and requested an investigation from the police on April 8, providing CCTV footage from inside the house. The police identified the suspect and have arrested them, and it appears that an arrest warrant has already been issued. We are very relieved that the suspect has been caught thanks to the swift investigation by law enforcement, and we are grateful for their efforts.”

They added, “There were claims from some that the theft may have been an inside job, but we clearly state that this is not true. We respectfully ask that unverified information not be reported. Baseless false information is spreading recklessly through online communities and social media. We stress that any such falsehoods will be met with strict legal action without leniency.”

Previously, on April 8, Park Na Rae confirmed that her home had been burglarized and reported it to the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul that same afternoon. It was reported that the damages amounted to tens of millions of won.

Police immediately began tracking the suspect, and Park Na Rae was absent from her scheduled appearance that day on MBC Standard FM’s Son Tae Jin’s Trot Radio.

Meanwhile, on the morning of April 9, one media outlet reported that “the police investigating Park Na Rae’s theft incident were pursuing the possibility of an inside job.” It was also reported that the police saw no signs of external intrusion. This led to reckless false claims online suggesting the incident was committed by someone close to her.

Park Na Rae purchased a detached house located in Itaewon, Yongsan District, Seoul for approximately 5.5 billion won [over $3 million] through an auction in 2021.
