Regarding the recent attention over a threatening post targeting the group NewJeans, their agency has issued a statement.

On the 25th of June, NewJeans’ agency, ADOR, stated, “We are preparing enhanced safety measures with the Japanese concert organizers,” and added, “In Korea, the police are currently investigating, and we are actively cooperating with the investigation.”

They further assured, “We are doing everything we can to ensure the artists can carry out their activities safely.”

Previously, on the 24th, a netizen posted a death threat against NewJeans. The netizen shared a photo of a Japanese-style knife on an online community, along with a message saying, “I bought this to use at NewJeans’ concert” and “I’ll give them one each as they get off the van.”

The knife photo was confirmed to be copied from an online sale listing. Although it is not clear if the author had genuine intent to commit a crime, NewJeans fans reported the post to the police.

The post has since been taken down and reported to the police. Even if there is no actual intent to cause harm, if a specific target is identified, it constitutes a crime of intimidation and can be punishable by law.

Meanwhile, NewJeans departed for Tokyo, Japan, on the morning of the 20th for their overseas schedule. They released their debut single “Supernatural” in Japan on the 21st and have been actively promoting it. On the 26th and 27th, they are scheduled to hold a fan meeting, “Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome,” at Tokyo Dome.
