Two More TWICE Members Rumored To Depart JYP, JYP Issues Response
TWICE members Tzuyu and Jihyo are both reportedly in discussions with JYP Entertainment (JYP) over their contract renewals, drawing attention to the group’s future.
Regarding both members, JYP told SPOTV News and Xports News on July 14, “TWICE is currently in the contract renewal discussion period, and we plan to share an update once things are confirmed.”
A media outlet reported the same day that Tzuyu is leaving JYP after 11 years together, though she is expected to continue participating in TWICE’s group activities. Separately, another outlet reported that Jihyo has leaned toward leaving JYP as well, with the establishment of her own one-person agency considered likely u2014 though her participation in TWICE’s group promotions is expected to continue with JYP regardless of her individual contract status.
Ahead of this, member Jeongyeon had also drawn attention after it was reported that she held a meeting with Baro Entertainment, the agency of her older sister, actress Gong Seung yeon. At the time, Baro Entertainment said, “It’s true that a meeting took place,” while adding, “Nothing has been confirmed regarding an exclusive contract.”
With TWICE now entering their contract renewal period, attention is turning to what each member will ultimately decide for their future.
TWICE debuted in 2015 and has released numerous hit songs including “Like OOH-AHH,” “Cheer Up,” “TT,” “Likey,” “What Is Love?” and “Feel Special,” establishing themselves as one of K-pop’s leading girl groups. In 2022, all members re-signed with JYP and continued promoting as a complete group, most recently wrapping up their largest-ever world tour, “This Is For,” which ran for about a year across 81 shows in 44 regions worldwide.
Tzuyu has also built a career as a solo artist, releasing her first solo album, “abouTZU,” in 2024. Jihyo, who debuted as TWICE’s leader, is known to have spent about 10 years as a trainee at JYP before debuting, and last year, content celebrating her 20th anniversary with the company was released.
