TWICE’s Jihyo Leaves JYP Entertainment After 21 Years And Launches Her Own Company, Will Remain In TWICE

TWICE‘s Jihyo is leaving JYP Entertainment.

On October 21, Jihyo left a handwritten letter on her social media and announced that she is concluding her journey with the agency. She said, “I have come to conclude my journey with JYP, which I have been with for 21 years since I was young.”

Jihyo said, “To me, independence is closer to a choice about how I will live the time ahead than a conclusion about the time that has passed. As a start, I established a new company, EMITHAUS.”

EMITHAUS, founded by Jihyo, aims to expand an artist’s individuality and creative capabilities into music and various other content. Like the name, which is derived from “EMIT” meaning “to emit,” Jihyo plans to continue taking on various challenges in a new environment and expand her own possibilities.

Jihyo will continue her solo activities while also continuing activities as a member of TWICE. EMITHAUS will use Jihyo’s solo activities as a starting point to discover and recruit various artists in the future, and expand its business across music and content in general.

“Hello. This is Jihyo.

I am leaving this post because there is news I would like to share with you.

I have come to conclude my journey with JYP, which I have been with for 21 years since I was young.

Trying to sum up twenty years in a few sentences is not as easy as I thought. From my childhood, through my teens, until I became an adult, I spent most of the moments of my life at JYP.

There were good days and days that weren’t, but it is clear that all of that time makes up who I am now. I sincerely thank everyone at JYP who stayed by my side for a long time and helped me grow. I will remember the time and hearts we shared for a long time.

To me, independence is closer to a choice about how I will live the time ahead than a conclusion about the time that has passed. As a start, I established a new company, EMITHAUS. Like EMIT, meaning ‘to emit,’ I would like to freely unfold even my possibilities that I have not yet discovered here. As I leave a familiar environment and continue my work in a new way, I will approach all my future choices and activities with more caution and a greater sense of responsibility.

And this choice does not mean parting ways with the team I have been with for a long time. TWICE is a precious part of my life that I cannot leave out. Just as much as the time we have spent together, I look forward to the time we will spend together in the future. I want to keep standing on the same stage with the members and continue the time we make together for a long time.

Above all, thank you to ONCE, who have believed in and watched over me for the past 11 years. I know well that watching a person’s many changes and growth over a long time is by no means something to be taken for granted. Thank you for giving me courage with your unchanging trust and support for so long. I will fill the time ahead with my own choices and efforts, and grow into an artist worthy of the love and support you have sent.
