TWICE’s Chaeyoung Directly Addresses Indoor Smoking Allegations

Girl group TWICE member Chaeyoung has personally addressed allegations of indoor smoking that recently surfaced.

Chaeyoung spoke out about the smoking allegations surrounding her on August 12th through her fan platform.

She wrote, “I was just going to stay quiet about it, but people keep bringing up the cigarette thing so much that I have to say something. It’s not a cigarette, I’m drinking a beverage. Look closely,” expressing her frustration over what she felt was an unfair situation.

She continued, “I’m really tired of this. I was just having fun. And doesn’t it not even make sense? There were so many people around, would I really do that so openly? I’m not that thoughtless of a person,” she added, reiterating her explanation.

The controversy began after a video showing Chaeyoung from behind spread across several online communities. In the video, Chaeyoung was seen repeatedly raising something in her hand to her mouth, leading some online users to raise suspicions that she may have been smoking indoors.

The video was reportedly filmed while Chaeyoung was attending an FKA twigs rave party held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul. However, after Chaeyoung directly explained, “It’s not a cigarette, I’m drinking a beverage,” the smoking allegations were clarified as untrue.

Addressing the sudden controversy herself, Chaeyoung expressed fatigue over the misunderstandings directed at her, while also explaining the situation to her fans and putting the controversy to rest.

Meanwhile, TWICE, the group Chaeyoung belongs to, recently held the two-day finale of their world tour “THIS IS FOR” at KSPO Dome.
