Famous HYBE Idol Gets Scammed By Taxi In The Philippines, Police Gives The Driver A 30-Day Suspension

TXT (Tomorrow X Together) member Soobin was scammed with taxi fares in the Philippines.

Recently, a video titled “Soobin’s Very Fun and Very Tough Vacation” was uploaded to the YouTube channel “TOMORROW X TOGETHER OFFICIAL.”

In the video, Soobin traveled to Cebu, Philippines with a friend. After arriving at the airport, he decided to take a taxi to his accommodation. He said, “I checked and it should cost about 300 pesos. If they ask for more than 300 pesos, let’s try getting mad once.” and headed to the taxi stand.

One taxi driver suggested 500 pesos, and Soobin ended up getting into the taxi after failing to negotiate. The driver made excuses like “This car uses expensive gas,” and even demanded 1000 pesos, shocking the two.

Soobin reacted angrily, saying, “Did you hear that? I’m going to report this. Make sure to record him saying 1000 pesos. Even 500 pesos was already expensive, but he asked for 1000.”

Despite this, he added, “At least we’re going somewhere. We’re so tired. Before getting off, he told us to pay 1000 pesos, but I firmly said I’d pay 500 pesos and left.” expressing disbelief.

After the video was released, the issue sparked controversy in the Philippines as well. The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), under the Philippine Department of Transportation, announced on the 3rd (local time) that the taxi driver involved was given a 30-day preventive suspension.

Filipino fans reacted by saying “As a Filipino, I’m embarrassed,” “I’ll apologize on their behalf,” “He should be punished strictly,” and “This is so upsetting.”
