Highly Controversial Shocking Show “Under Fifteen” Ultimately Cancels 1st Broadcast After Massive Backlash Over Inclusion Of Trainees As Young As 8
“Under Fifteen” ultimately decided to cancel its 1st episode broadcast!
On March 28, the production team of MBN’s “Under Fifteen” announced the cancellation of the show through an official statement.
“Under Fifteen” was set to be the world’s first audition program dedicated to discovering K-pop prodigies under the age of 15. It was scheduled to premiere on MBN on March 31. However, after contestant profiles and teaser videos were released, the show faced backlash over allegations of “child sexualization,” leading to complications in its airing.
In response, the show’s production company, Crea Studio, held an emergency press conference on March 25, where they tearfully attempted to clarify the situation. Despite this, controversy persisted, with 129 civic groups gathering in front of MBN’s headquarters to demand the show’s cancellation.
Regarding this matter, the production team stated, “After deep deliberation and discussions, we have decided that canceling the scheduled March 31 broadcast and focusing on protecting the participants and reorganizing is the best course of action. As a result, MBN will not air the program.”
They further added, “We will ensure that the essence of the program and the contestants’ sincerity are not compromised in the future. Thank you for your interest.”
