The Kpop Idol Who Has Been Discharged From Military Early Because Of Mental Health Issues

VANNER member Hyesung (Park Hyesung, 28) has been granted an early discharge from military service due to medical issues.

On December 16, the group’s agency, KLAP Entertainment, released a statement via VANNER’s official fan cafe, announcing, “Hyesung will be medically discharged from the military as of December 16.”

The agency explained, “Hyesung has been suffering from panic disorder and other psychological conditions prior to his enlistment. Two weeks after entering the training center, he was admitted to the Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital for thorough examinations. The results indicated that normal military service would not be possible, and ongoing treatment is necessary, leading to the decision for his medical discharge based on the Military Manpower Administration’s assessment.”

The statement continued, “We sincerely apologize for delivering such sudden news, and we understand the fans’ concern and worry for Hyesung. However, we kindly ask for your understanding that no further details beyond this announcement can be provided. We will ensure that Hyesung can focus on his recovery moving forward.”

Hyesung enlisted as an active-duty soldier on December 4 but was transferred to the hospital shortly after due to difficulties in completing training. Following comprehensive medical examinations, his discharge was officially approved.

Hyesung debuted with VANNER in 2019 and gained widespread recognition after the group’s victory on JTBC’s “Peak Time” last year. Known for hits like “Performer,” “Jackpot,” and “Automatic,” he has garnered a devoted fanbase. Fans are now rallying to support him as he prioritizes his health.
